A new scanner is being used by St Mary’s Hospital, on the Isle of Wight to tackle patient bedsores.Pressure sores kill 60,000 people a year and cost the NHS £2.1bn annually.They usually affect people confined to bed or who sit in a chair or wheelchair for long periods of time.The scanner is being tested by the hospital as part of a new international trial of the device.
